Manufacturer: Sun Pharma
Pharmaceutical name: Olmesartan Medoxomil; Hydrochlorothiazide
Pack: 10 pills (20 mg/12.5 mg)
Olmezest H is a fixed-dose combination of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, used together to treat hypertension in individuals with high blood pressure who are susceptible to cardiovascular disease, helping to prevent strokes and heart attacks.
Olmezest H includes the active ingredients Olmesartan Medoxomil (20mg), an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic (12.5mg), utilized in tandem to manage essential hypertension.
You should take Olmezest H once daily with a glass of water, either with or without food, at the same time each day. While Olmezest H will assist in managing your blood pressure, it does not provide a cure; hence, it is important to continue taking Olmezest H as long as your doctor advises to maintain normal blood pressure levels.
Olmezest H is a fixed-dose combination drug aimed at treating essential hypertension in individuals whose blood pressure is not adequately managed by a single medication. Although it typically does not present additional symptoms, essential hypertension—characterized by high blood pressure at rest without a clear cause—heightens the risk of cardiovascular disease and, if left uncontrolled, may lead to kidney damage, strokes, heart attacks, and heart failure. Olmezest H reduces blood pressure to normal levels, aiding the heart's functioning and lowering the risk of cardiovascular issues and organ damage.
The most frequently reported side effects of Olmezest H include: upper respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis or bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, headaches, fatigue, back pain, peripheral edema, and alterations in blood salt levels.
You should avoid using Olmezest H if you: have an allergy to olmesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any components of Olmezest H; are allergic to sulphonamides; are pregnant or nursing; have kidney or liver conditions; have a history of heart issues or stroke; have difficulty urinating; or are taking medications that may interact with Olmezest H, including other antihypertensives, diuretics such as furosemide, potassium-sparing diuretics like spironolactone, potassium supplements or potassium-rich salt substitutes, lithium for mood disorders, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antacids like aluminium magnesium hydroxide, narcotic analgesics such as codeine, barbiturates for epilepsy like phenobarbitone, corticosteroids like prednisone, cholestyramine and colestipol for high cholesterol, and muscle relaxants such as tubocurarine, or lithium for mood stabilization.
